Sports Injury

For sports professionals the most important thing about an injury is that it doesn’t mean time out of action. Knowing what to do and when to do to avoid chronic problems and the least amount of time out due to injury is important. At Life Right we have experience at regional, national and international sports professionals. We have even looked after a world champion. It is surprising to note how many professional sports stars put their continued success down to their Chiropractor. Some like Padraig Harrington have their Chiropractor come with him on all his golf events, others like Arnold Schwarzenegger still use Chiropractic eventhough he has finished his professional sports career and taken up politics. We’ve had experience on and off the field and have held responsibility in deciding who plays and who doesn’t for professional sports teams. We realise that time out means lost money when it comes to professionals and means a loss of revenue for some players who are on pay and play.

We all play sports and we can all injure ourselves; most sports carry similar injuries whether you are professional or not. For the non professional sports person the most important thing is to avoid chronicity and avoid re-occurence as these two factors can affect enjoyment and even participation in your chosen sport. For some we help with sports performance, others nutrition and others we see them on maintenance care which means their nervous system can better enable them to perform in their chosen sport.

As a general rule of thumb we recommend ice or cooling gel to help you with your injury. Those people that have such conditions as Raynaurds or similar will know not to use cold but for most ice is quicker than heat because heat increases hemorrhage. Do not place plastic next to your skin as this can alter the way cold affects your injured tissues. We recommend Celadrin and Flexall buy these at our shop and keep them just in case injury strikes. Above all else we recommend regular diverse training to avoid injury, if your interested in your strengths and weaknesses book in and get an assessment.
