Health
Health is more than the absence of disease and symptoms. At Life Right we see health as an interaction and a relationship between many different aspects of life that systemically blend together to give us the complexity of life that we enjoy. There are many things that can affect our current health status and as human beings we are constantly evolving; some of our clinical expertise is informed by the discoveries of the Nobel Laureate (1983) Barbara Mc Clintock in her concept of the ‘intelligence of the cell’.
She was able to take an electron micrograph of how cells communicate with each other by forming physical bonds; collaborating together: We believe this is also true for human health; in that our health is a reaction to our environment. By environment we mean, the larger environment, our social connections, our activity levels, exercise, our thoughts, feelings and beliefs, the environmental toxins and chemicals in the air we breathe and the water we drink, including our diet and nutrition which drives our psycho-biology. It is these environmental inputs interacting with our genes that create changes in our basic bodily systems. So in the case of some pain or illness, this could mean we have departed from a healthful way of living and being and our return to total health needs to be guided by an understanding of how we got where we are and how to prevent further pain and illness in the future. So if we can identify the triggers of the imbalance and provide the ingredients that the body needs, it can start to function healthfully again and a better quality of life is experienced.
Sometimes and particularly in the case of chronic illness, or when we have non-specific pain we have to look further into psychological and physical histories that form a backdrop of our lives from conception to present day to find out why our present health status is compromised. For some people this is embedded in childhood illness, injury or upset and for others it is the knocks that life has meted out up until the present time that is affecting our sense of self and how we are coping with life.
At Life Right we believe that health is the ability to be able to regulate our emotions and feelings in any situation that life throws at us and to feel in control and at ease with how and who we are as individuals at the time and on reflection. Personal happiness means so many different things to us all, but in essence a sense of balance and wellbeing is experienced through feeling loved, accepted, understood, useful and respected.
In taking care of ourselves a little bit everyday we can accumulate our health status and move away from illness, pain and disease into healthful practices that encourage us to continue to learn how we wish to be healthy in exploring, enjoying and living life to the full irrespective as to how long we spend on this planet.
