Our Approach
We use an Integrative whole person approach that draws on different theoretical methods to develop the best treatment plan for each individual. i.e. systemic, humanistic, psychodynamic and cognitive behavioural therapies and treatments. Our methodology is invested in how stress and trauma affect our health and functionality especially when it is expressed as chronic illness, pain, disease or medically unexplained symptoms.
We use Behavioural Medicine as a school of thought, looking at the community of current knowledge and information from biological, behavioural, psychological and social sciences to inform our clinical practices. The clinical application of Behavioural Medicine uses an interdisciplinary way of understanding you through a holistic and comprehensive assessment, in which we establish a current ‘baseline of health‘, a full history of your lifestyle, health co-morbidities and your goals for future health status. We will work with you on a collaborative, respectful basis that privileges information deemed to be important to you, we do not subscribe to labels, static diagnosis or singular perspectives, as human beings we are ever evolving and in a constant state of flux and change: If we can tolerate and attune our thoughts and behaviour when this is happening we create our own homeostasis.
Once the treatment pathway has been agreed, this will constitute a ‘timed-contract’ after which the treatment will terminate or a review will be held to best agree any further treatments or referral to other healthcare professionals. At all times in your treatment, we will privilege your evolving thoughts and feedback, to change or restructure how we work together. We believe you are the expert of your own story and that if we really listen to you, together we will find understand and use the correct interventions to help you recover and sustain well-being and positive health.
